An interrogative sentence is a sentence that asks a question. It always ends with a question mark (?). The purpose is to seek information, confirmation, or clarification.
TYPES OF INTERROGATIVES
1. YES/NO QUESTIONS
These are questions that can be answered with "yes" or "no."
Structure: Auxiliary verb + Subject + Main verb + Object?
Examples:
Are you coming to class?
Did she finish her homework?
Can they play football?
2. WH- QUESTIONS
These begin with question words (Wh-words) like: What, Where, When, Who, Whom, Which, Why, How.
They demand detailed information, not just "yes" or "no."

3. CHOICE QUESTIONS
These questions offer alternatives using or.
Structure: Auxiliary + Subject + Verb … or …?

4. TAG QUESTIONS
These are statements turned into questions by adding a tag at the end.
They are used to confirm or check information.
Rules:
Positive statement → Negative tag
Negative statement → Positive tag

5. RHETORICAL QUESTIONS
These are asked for effect and don’t expect an answer.
Often used in speeches or literature.
Examples:

Rules of Interrogatives:
Always begin with an auxiliary verb or question word.
Subject comes after the auxiliary in questions.
Example: Is he reading? (not He is reading?)
End with a question mark (?).
